Caregiver Support & Information Group
A Men's Caregiver Support Group will start April 10 at 10:00 A.M. at Como Park Lutheran Church. The topics to be covered will include: Home Safety, How to Structure Your Day, Enhancing Communication, Community Resources, and a trip to a Day Health program. The group will meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday and run for 6 weeks. We can provide respite referrals for your loved one so you can attend. Community Seminar April 24-- Sharing the Care: Dementia and the Impact on Caregivers
Come and hear Dr. Ken Hepburn, PhD, Director of Geriatrics at the U of M Department of Family Practice and Community Health, speak on dementia and its impact on those that are caring for someone with this illness. Dr. Hepburn has been the principal investigator in the Partners in Caregiving, Alzheimers Caregiver Educational Research Project. He has conducted research on the impact of dementia on family caregivers and has developed materials for caregivers of persons with Alzheimers disease.
We will be meeting on Tuesday, April 24, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church (1465 N. Victoria Street). Please call our office if you need a ride or volunteer respite so you can attend this informative meeting. Therese Buckley and Caryn Erickson (651) 642-1127.
